    Synonyms: d20

    Synonyms: EULA
  • Ctrl
    Control Key--the Control keys, usually one on each side of the keyboard, are used to alter the meaning of a key. In case of Turn Watcher, you need to use the Ctrl key to access many of the functions using your keyboard.

D

  • d20 (1)
    The newest version of Dungeons & Dragons rule set by Wizards of the Coast is called d20. This comes from the fact that in most cases, you only need to roll a d20 to get the result that you need.
  • DC
    Difficulty Class--how difficult a given task is to achieve, represented by a number from 0 to 20 or more. Use to know whether one can protect himself against a spell, hide, or pick a lock. In some games, the Game Master is the only one who knows the DC.

    Dungeons & Dragons--considered the first Role Playing Game, created in 1969 by Gary Gigax who is one of the TSR Inc. founders.

  • EULA
    End-User License Agreement--whenever you use a software product, your are more than likely bound to the author or reseller of the software via a license agreement or contract. This agreement explains your rights.

    Game Master--The person who runs the game. He has a scenario describing an imaginary world that his players visit to resolve enigmas and especially... survive!
  • GNU
    Gnu is Not Unix--the name of the software created by the Free Software Foundation.
  • GUI
    Graphical User Interface--the windows in a software.

  • HP
    Hit Points--the number of points representing the life of a Character or Monster in D&D and other role playing games.
  • HTML
    Hyper Text Markup Language--The language most often used to create website pages.
  • HUD (2)
    Heads Up Display--The second monitor shown to your players so they know who is next in the game.

    The K-Desktop, based on the Qt library by Nokia (previously by TrollTech)

    Made to Order Software Corporation--The software company that created Turn Watcher.
  • Mb
    Mega Byte--depending on the definition, 1Mb of memory either represents 1,000,000 bytes or 1,048,576 bytes. It is used to represent the amount of memory or disk space necessary for a software to run or get installed.

    Minimalistic GNU for Windows--a version of the GNU software for the MS-Windows Operating Systems.

  • NPC (1)
    Non-Player Character--Whenever a character appears in a scenario and is played by the Game Master. This character may be good or bad. See also PC.
  • NSIS
    Nullsoft Scriptable Install System--a tool used to generate a MS-Windows executable used to install software on a MS-Windows operating system.

    Operating System--The system that makes your computer worth something to you. We support Linux and MS-Windows and soon Mac OS/X.

  • PC (1)
    Player Character--A character that is managed by a player of the game. See also NPC.
  • PNG
    Portable Network Graphics--an image format that works on all computers that support the PNG library.
  • PS
    Post Scriptum--That one extra thing you need to say in a letter.

  • RAM
    Random Access Memory--computer memory that can be access really fast, but that is forgotten when powering off your computer. Memory is required to run a software and handle data.

  • Shift
    Shift Key--The shift key is, in most cases, used to enter uppercase letters. There are two, one on each side of your keyboard. In Turn Watcher, a few menu entries require the Shift key.
