The following are questions that our users ask us frequently.
If you do not find your answer here, please, do not hesitate
to contact us. See the Support Page
for that purpose.
Can I get a CD instead of a download?
Since version 1.1, we offer a CD. You can find it on our
Cafepress store.
Note, however, that at this time we do not offer upgrades when you purchase
the CD.
The CD includes all the supported versions of Windows and Linux,
a copy of the documentation, and a copy of the Demo versions
that you can share with your friends.
What versions of Windows are supported?
We only support Windows 2000 and Windows XP for now. It is likely
to work on Windows Vista too. We recommend trying out our
demonstration version
first to make sure.
How do you install on Windows?
Please see our page
Installing Turn Watcher on Windows.
What versions of Linux are supported?
We support the following Linux distributions: Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Debian and
FedoraCore 5.
It was reported that Turn Watcher works correctly with Gentoo.
You may download Turn Watcher for GNU/Linux in one of three ways:
- A unified
Debian package
which may be used on any
Debian-based system.
- A unified
RPM package
which may be used on any
RPM/RedHat-based system.
- A unified
tarball
which may be used on any GNU/Linux-based system.
We suggest that you first try our
demonstration version
to make sure that it works on your system.
How do you install on Linux?
Please see our page
Installing Turn Watcher on Linux.
I run Linux, and I see black backgrounds on my menus. I can't read the menu
entries!
Please see the FAQ question below.
The text for the monsters on my main window isn't red like the screenshots I
saw!
You need to download the following package to correct this:
gtk2-engines-gtk-qt_0.60-m2osw1_i386.deb.
This package corrects the gtk-qt engine which is shipped stock with most
distributions that run KDE and want to integrate GNOME/Gtk apps seemlessly.
- Download the file onto your local hard-disk.
Example:
~/Desktop/Downloads
- Open a Terminal or Konsole session (this gives you a Linux shell
prompt: $)
- Use the cd command to go to the directory in which you downloaded the
Gtk-Qt engine.
Example:
$ cd Desktop/Downloads
- Install package with the dpkg command.
$ sudo dpkg -i gtk2-engines-gtk-qt_0.60-m2osw1_i386.deb
- Make sure you restart Turn Watcher so the changes can take effect!
